Federal government backs Cellars Hill Wind Farm under Capacity Investment Scheme
Media release from Gamuda Engineering (25 May 2026)
We are proud to share that Cellars Hill Wind Farm has been selected as one of 19 successful projects in the Australian Government's Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) Tender 7, the largest clean energy auction in Australia's history. This is a major milestone for the project and for Tasmania's Central Highlands.
Cellars Hill Wind Farm (up to 350 MW) and the Weasel Solar Farm (250 MW) are the only two Tasmanian projects selected under the scheme.
Together, the two Tasmanian projects have a combined value of up to $1.5 billion and the capacity to generate over to 500 megawatts of clean, reliable energy.
For the communities of the Central Highlands, that means real local investment, local jobs during construction, and a lasting contribution to Australia's clean energy future.
We look forward to keeping the Central Highlands community informed as the project progresses.
